Submission of Notice Before Starting Mining Operations:
- Before starting any mining operations, a notice must be submitted as per the guidelines set by the Chief Inspector.
- This notice should include:
- A plan showing the mine's boundaries.
- Locations of the mine’s shafts or openings.
- Any trijunction or revenue pillars.
- Other permanent and prominent surface features.
- Copies of this notice must be sent to both the Chief Inspector and the Regional Inspector.
Note:
- If there is any change in the mine’s boundary (under regulations 121 and 122), a new plan showing the updated boundary must be submitted within seven days of the change.
Accompanying Documents:
- The notice must include:
- A surface plan prepared under Regulation 65(1)(a).
- A Safety Management Plan prepared under Regulation 104.
Special Provisions for Existing Mines:
- For mines that are already operational:
- The surface plan must be submitted within 60 days of these regulations coming into effect.
- The Safety Management Plan must be submitted within 1 year of these regulations coming into effect.
Communication After Opening the Mine:
- Once the mine is officially opened, the owner, agent, or manager must immediately inform:
- The Chief Inspector.
- The Regional Inspector.
- The District Magistrate.
- This communication must include the actual date of opening.
