Easy and Delicious Tomato Rice Recipe
Tomato Rice is a popular South Indian dish that is easy to make and bursting with flavor. It's a great way to use up leftover rice and can be served as a main dish or side dish. Here's an easy recipe for making Tomato Rice:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of Basmati Rice
- 2 cups of Water
- 2 medium-sized Tomatoes, chopped
- 1 medium-sized Onion, chopped
- 1-2 Green Chillies, chopped
- 1/2 tsp of Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/2 tsp of Cumin Seeds
- 1/2 tsp of Mustard Seeds
- 1/4 tsp of Turmeric Powder
- 1/4 tsp of Red Chilli Powder
- Salt to taste
- Coriander Leaves, chopped
Instructions:
- Wash the Basmati Rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- In a pan, heat some oil and add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add the chopped onions and green chillies, and sauté until the onions turn translucent.
- Add the ginger garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt to taste. Mix well and cook until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
- Drain the water from the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Mix well and cook for a minute.
- Add 2 cups of water and mix well. Bring it to a boil.
- Lower the flame, cover the pan and let the rice cook until it is fully cooked and the water has been absorbed.
- Once done, turn off the flame and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
